Todd Boehly will stand down as Chelsea’s chairman in 2027 as part of an agreement in which a representative of joint-owners Clearlake Capital will take on the role.
While a decision has not yet been made on whether that will be Behdad Eghbali or José E Feliciano, the arrangement means the chairmanship will switch between the main shareholders at Stamford Bridge every five years.
Clearlake Capital, the private equity firm managed by Eghbali and Feliciano, has a 61.5 per cent stake in the club’s holding company while Boehly has an equal split of the remaining 38.5 per cent with Mark Walter and Hansjorg Wyss.
