A FORMER BBC Radio Bristol presenter has visited Worle Community School Academy to teach the students how to be fantastic public speakers.

Emma Britton, a Jill Dando News Centre patron, has helped launch the new Public Speaking Training Scheme, which will teach budding journalists, such as Oliver, how to speak confidently in front of crowds.

Jill Dando News was set up in honour of its namesake, presenter and journalist Jill Dando.

Jill was tragically killed outside of her home in 1999. Her legacy lives on at the school.

The new scheme will hopefully be extended across The Priory Learning Trust Schools in Somerset.

Emma said: “I was really excited to play a part in this pilot scheme as I know how important having the confidence to speak in public is as you make your way in the world.

“The students really took on board all the feedback I gave them and I was so impressed with their final presentations.”

Principal Mark Tidman added: “We thank Emma for bringing her cutting edge public speaking and presentation skills to train up our students.

“They were all incredibly enthusiastic and eager to get the very best skills for a lifetime to work in their chosen fields.”
