A new facility to scan people’s bone density could be built in Weston-super-Mare.
InHealth submitted a planning application to North Somerset Council to build a new one-storey building on land on Coniston Crescent, next to the to Horizon Health Centre, to host a DEXA diagnostics facility.
This uses low dose X-rays to scan your bones for how strong they are. This is often used to diagnose osteoporosis, a condition which weakens your bones.
The new building would be built mainly off-site using modular construction methods.

Further proposals will be submitted to supplement the application, with regards to access, and car parking on the site.
When it comes to trees in the area, the planning statement says: "We propose to put protection around the tree during construction with appropriate signage and also look to seek advice on how to protect the tree if required once the development is ready for use."
