A SOMERSET pub could be 'partially demolished' if plans are approved to use the site to build new homes.

The disused Miners Arms building Shipham near Winscombe was sold at an auction for an undisclosed fee in November 2023.

Now, its now owners are applying to build three new dwellings on the land, and also 'partially demolish' the existing building to convert it into a fourth home.

In November 2018, permission was granted to change the building's use from a public house to a residential dwelling.

The proposed site of the four new homes would accessed via the existing entry from Turnpike Road.

Two of the houses would be adjoined and semi detached, whilst the existing pub building would be converted to a detached dwelling, plus another detached house to the north east boundary of the site.

Three garages are also among the plans for the site, as well as a central internal courtyard area and 'generous' private gardens, whilst retaining the existing hedge bank and footpath around the outside of the area.

Public consultation is open until Wednesday, February 28, and approval could be given from the following day.
