A “derelict” cottage in the woods near Congresbury could be knocked down.
A planning application has been submitted to North Somerset Council to knock down Hill Cottage which is located of Rhodyate Hill outside Congresbury but not visible from the road and build a new house in its place.

A statement submitted with the plans said: “The house on the site is currently in a very poor state of repair and could be referred to as being derelict. The house has been empty for a number of years and had not been well kept prior to that point. “
Planning permission is sought to build a two-storey five-bedroom home instead. The statement said: “Given the context of the dwelling which is not visible from the road and limited from public views there is some scope for architectural freedom, however, the proposed dwelling takes a simple traditional form which would not appear out of place with the rural setting.”
