Biography

One of the most famous modern abstract expressionist painters.

Marcus Rothkowitz was born in 1904 in Russia--present-day Latvia. He immigrated to the United States in 1913.[1] He became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1938.[2]

By 1940 he was married to Edith Sachar.[3] That marriage ended and he later married Mary Alice Beistle. He died in 1970 in New York CIty.[4]
