In a slightly controversial TikTok beauty trend, people are explaining the difference between the two viral terms - along with which celebrities fall into each category.
Many young women, like content creator Sienna Zarate, posted about feeling like they were girl pretty and never getting attention from men, while others broke down how to get glam accordingly.
Croatian creator Mirta Miler showed her 18.3 million TikTok followers the difference by doing her makeup as 'girl pretty' on one side and 'boy pretty' on the other, defining it as the male vs. female gaze.
Mirta explained the differences as 'What is attractive to men vs. what is attractive to women?' before showing off her glam routine two different ways.

She said the 'male gaze is looking like you have no flaws but also looking like you're not wearing a lot of makeup,' while doing makeup for the 'female gaze is all about falling in love with the imperfections.'
When doing her makeup for the male gaze, she enhanced her soft feminine features and focused on becoming the 'angelic girl next door,' putting on fake freckles and doing fluffy, airy brows on the left.
For girl pretty, she made sure to create light, breathable skin-line foundation, and skinny, lifted brows with dewy skin.
In the second part of the video, she put on soft and dreamy shimmery eye makeup for the boy pretty aesthetic, and for the female gaze she did a smokey eye.
Content creator Axandra, who has 1.7 million followers and makes videos 'for the girls,' broke down some of the differences between what constituted girl pretty and what made someone boy pretty.
Alxandra said: 'Girls with bangs - only girl pretty - I feel like men don't care for bangs,' which would put Taylor Swift firmly in the girl pretty category.
She also believes that having short hair is 'girl pretty,' because men are 'obsessed with long hair,' making Sydney Sweeney boy pretty.
Women weighed in about what they thought 'girl pretty' meant, and whether it mattered to them

Sydney Sweeney is an example of boy pretty, as she does full coverage makeup and rarely opts for over-the-top glam or anything too dramatic
According to Axandra, girl pretty women also do fun eyeliner and opt for bold, bright makeup looks in general, while boy pretty women do the bare minimum when it comes to glam and don't experiment.
Commenters had much to say about the differences - and whether people should care what men had to think about their haircuts and makeup routines.
One woman chimed in, 'And do your hair how you want want it… most men actually like individuality unless you're looking to date boys.'
Another explained: 'A good example of girl pretty for me would be Alexa Chung.'
Someone else clarified: 'Boy pretty can be appreciated by anyone but girl pretty is something only women appreciate. Like coquette,' referring to the hyper-feminine, bow-heavy trend.

Donnie shared: 'Unpopular opinion but the whole are you girl pretty or are you boy pretty thing is absolutely asinine.'

She added in her caption: 'Did y'all forget that people have personalities or am I crazy?'
Despite the controversy, plenty of people are weighing in on who they think is boy or girl pretty - and how they think they can change their glam looks to embrace the craze.
