Former Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade went on the record about his relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis that ultimately cost him his job on one of the biggest prosecutions in the country, insisting 'I did my job.'

But his decision to open up in an interview with comedian Marlon Wayans—playing a simpleminded character named Quon—meant a series of awkward moments as he battled embarrassing questions.

'D.A. Willis is a respectable mother, a brilliant legal mind,' he said as he tried to keep things on the rails at the start of his interview for 'The Daily show'.

'We spent countless hours preparing this case, investigating this case.'

Quon was quick to spot an opening.

'I see how it happened, countless hours, and I need a foot rub, you know what I mean, and she rub your foot. And I'm like, "Hey let me give you a massage," and all of a sudden, boom boom, we up on this desk. Man,' he said.

Wade, 51, replied: 'That's not how it happened.'

He is at the center of a bitter divorce case and was forced to leave the Trump prosecution in February after his relationship with Willis became public.

The scandal rocked Fulton County's case against Donald Trump and Wade was forced to resign as top prosecutor.

Willis also came under intense scrutiny at a series of sensational hearings, with Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ultimately slamming her for a 'tremendous lapse in judgment' and for acting in an 'unprofessional manner.'

Wade's decision to discuss the affair with a comedy character raised eyebrows among legal scholars.

Anthony Michael Kreis, a constitutional law professor at Georgia State University criticized Wade's comments.

'This is gross. Nathan Wade should be embarrassed. And Fani Willis, whatever her mistakes, deserves better than this. As do the people of Fulton County,' he posted on X.

Quon missed no opportunity to mock Wade during their toe-curling encounter

Quon missed no opportunity to mock Wade, who tried earnestly to explain that he was spending morning, noon and night with Willis as they prepared their case against Trump.

'How can you not hit that? How can you not?' Quon said. 'We spending that much time together, we doing everything, we might as well.'

Wade tried to correct Quon when he suggested that he might have been 'he tooed' by his boss.

When he said Willis was more like a client than a boss, Quon hit back, 'So you served her well?'

'I did. I did my job,' he answered.
