The German's departure brings much uncertainty in the playing and coaching staff, with stars such as Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah only having one year left to run on their contracts.

And, speaking on Mail Sport's It's All Kicking Off podcast, Ladyman analysed the future of Alexander-Arnold and said he found it 'interesting' that the defender seemingly deep a lap of honour on Sunday.

Sutton agreed as he said Alexander-Arnold's situation was 'one to watch', with Ladyman going onto question why Liverpool had allowed him to head into the final year of his deal, while he also claimed he would be anxious about the 25-year-old leaving the club if he was a Reds fan.
