Killer Mike will NOT face misdemeanor battery charges in Grammys arrest

Killer Mike will not be facing misdemeanor battery charges stemming from his altercation with an 'overzealous' event security guard, which led to a citizen's arrest at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on February 4.

The 49-year-old rapper-activist (born Michael Render) met with prosecutors in the LA City Attorney's Office and 'agreed to do some community service with a non-profit organization of his choice' as well as vowing to stay out of trouble for the next year - according to TMZ.

THR's Chris Gardner tweeted video of Killer Mike - whose father was an Atlanta police officer - being escorted out of LA's Crypto.com Arena while wearing handcuffs after 'confusion around which door my team and I should enter.'

It was ironic considering the 6ft2in hip-hop star had just swept all three rap categories at the awards ceremony winning best rap performance, best rap album, and best rap song.

'Let me tell you something, man. I talked about this album being a return to the religious and moral principles I was raised with,' Killer Mike told GQ on February 8.

'And I just got to say, man, you'll find yourself in a position where it's just you and God. And I took a couple hours, man. I was just by myself, and I was just thankful I took time to thank God and to say, I appreciate the blessings you've given me. I spent time talking. I'm invoking the spirit of my grandmother and my mother and just saying, Look, I've done it. And after a few hours, man, I got out and I went partying and had fun. And I was glad that I had used those three hours to be thankful to God and to be calm and to meditate.

'Because the very next morning, I got a call that my child, after being on the list for three years, finally got his kidney. And I can just truly tell you that God is real. And the same way Christ gave us an example of being by himself, of being tempted by Satan, I understand that a lot better now because I could have succumbed to anger or evil and talked s***. But I'm just grateful. I'm grateful. Not only that I won, but I'm grateful that God showed me within 24 hours that there's something more important than even the accolades you've worked for. And that's my family and my child and I'm just thankful. I thank Him.'

The Exit 9 rapper has four children - Pony, Mikey, Aniyah, and Malaik - from his 18-year marriage to Shana 'Shay Bigga' Render.

Killer Mike is currently in Canada where he's scheduled to perform at Coastal Jazz and Blues Society's Vancouver International Jazz Festival on Wednesday.
