McDonald's fans hail exclusive new menu items as 'life-changing' - but they are not available everywhere

McDonald's has launched two new versions of its McShaker fries - and fans saying they are 'life changing'.

One has spicy masala flavoring and the other sweet churro flavoring.

Customers get a bag of fries and then sprinkle the seasoning on top like salt - and then shake up the bag.

But in a blow for fans in the US, the new fries are only available in Canada.

The newly unveiled flavors were shared on Instagram by food blog Snackolator on Tuesday, May 28.

'If you've never seen these before, in many countries McDonalds sells these and they come in a bag where you can dump the seasoning and 'shake' the bag up to coat your french fries with a new flavor seasoning.'

American fans expressed their frustration in the comments.

One said: 'Why does Canada get all the cool stuff?'

Another wrote: Why can't you guys be more creative in the US like in other countries?

'Literally every other McDonald's not in the US is better.'

But one American explained why they weren't going to be in US restaurants.

'We had these for a while in America but they didn't catch on.' they wrote. 'So fast that I never got to try them.

Meanwhile, a fan who had tasted them wrote: 'Had both, don't like the churro one….

'BUTTTT if you put it on a caramel sundae it's life changing '

American McDonald's fans do have one special item this summer - the Grandma McFlurry, which costs around $4.50.

It contains vanilla soft-serve ice cream blended with chopped-up pieces of candy - and topped with a syrup.

The taste has been likened to butterscotch - much like Werther's Original, a candy many Americans associate with grandparents.

Fast food restaurants have seen customers numbers dip - after two years of price prices since the pandemic. To get them back they are launching deals.

McDonald's plans a $5 meal bundle from June 25. Customers will get a total of four items - either a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, small fries, small soft drink and four McNuggets.

Burger King has a similar $5 deal, while  Wendy's has launched a $3 breakfast meal - as a fast food price war looks to be heating up.
