Czechs can put progress in their own hands

Both Georgia and Czechia suffered heartache in their first Group F encounters as the two ended up on the receiving ends of late strikes in thrillers.

The Crusaders were involved in arguably the game of the tournament so far as they pushed Turkey all the way in Dortmund only for a stoppage-time goal from Kerem Akturkoglu – after Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili had gone up for a corner in search of an equaliser – put the gloss on a 3-1 victory for the Turks.

The Czechs let a one-goal lead slip against group favourites Portugal as a strike from substitute Francisco Conceicao in added time secured all three points.

Ivan Hasek’s men showed plenty of promise against one of the tournament favourites and they should back themselves to claim a crucial victory against the minnows.

However, Georgia demonstrated enough determination and caused plenty of problems. So the Crusaders could still grab a goal in this one. Do not be surprised if the Czechs fail to keep another clean sheet today.

Slick Schick can shine again

There are not many players in the Czech squad that have proved to be a regular goal threat over the course of their international careers, with only three of the 26 men having netted 10 or more goals.

The primary threat in front of goal is Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick, who lit up Euro 2020 with his performances to finish joint top goalscorer on five with Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Schick has yet to get off the mark in Germany but it is unlikely to be long before he appears on the scoresheet, with the 19 he has netted in 39 appearances for the Czechs averaging a goal every other game. He looks a good bet to find the net today.

Georgia can contribute to exciting encounter

Willy Sagnol’s Georgia may have ended up on the wrong end of their four-goal thriller against Turkey but they more than contributed to the excitement of the game and were unfortunate to come away with nothing.

Two of the Turks’ three scores are likely to be on the shortlist for goal of the tournament, while the Crusaders also had 15 shots, with the wastefulness of their attackers arguably their biggest downfall.

One man who may have left Dortmund with his head held high is Metz striker Georges Mikautadze, who scored his country’s first ever goal at a major tournament in that defeat. He already has 11 goals to his name in just 26 appearances for the Crusaders so expect him to test the Czech keeper.

And with the respective first matches of these two sides having produced over 2.5 goals, and with both sides needing to win to keep their tournament campaigns alive, another winner in this market could be on the cards.

Georgia vs Czechia tip 3: Bet builder – over 2.5 goals and Georges Mikautadze over 0.5 shots on target @ 41/20 with BetMGM
