Artificial intelligence has pros and cons, but one thing is for sure - AI is here to stay.   This is why Parliament adopted the Artificial Intelligence Act in March 2024, which classifies and regulates AI systems according to the risk they pose to users. 🔴 Unacceptable risk AI systems are systems considered a threat to people and will be banned.   🔶 High-risk AI systems will be assessed before being put on the market and also throughout their lifecycle. People will have the right to file complaints about AI systems to designated national authorities.   🔎 Content that is either generated or modified with the help of AI - images, audio or video files (e.g. deepfakes) - need to be clearly labelled as AI generated so that users are aware when they come across such content.   Read more on our website: https://lnkd.in/euaiact

Travel within the EU will become easier for people living with disabilities thanks to two initiatives adopted by the European Parliament. In April members approved the European Disability Card and the European Parking Card. The first card ensures people living with disabilities have equal access to preferential conditions, such as reduced or zero entry fees, priority access and access to reserved parking. Both cards will grant card holders, as well as those accompanying them and assistance animals, access to most of the same conditions as national card holders. Journalists play a crucial role in keeping us informed, highlighting important issues and defending democracy.   The European Parliament plays tribute to their vital contribution through its annual journalism prize. The Daphne Caruana Galizia Prize is named after the Maltese journalist, blogger and anti-corruption activist who was murdered in a car bomb explosion in 2017 following extensive reporting on corruption.    Parliament has now launched a call for submissions for its prize that rewards outstanding journalism that promotes or defends core EU values.   The winner, who will be chosen by an independent jury composed of press and civil society representatives, will be awarded €20,000 in prize money.   Find out more: https://europa.eu/!nbXy6Q
