About Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is the most populous and the largest migrant-sending country within Central Asia. Top destination countries for Uzbek migrants are the Russian Federation, Republic of Kazakhstan, Republic of Türkiye, United Arab Emirates, Republic of Korea, and others. Furthermore, Uzbekistan is experiencing internal migration from rural to urban areas for employment and educational reasons. Additionally, Uzbekistan is vulnerable to various environmental factors and climate change, experiencing increased temperatures, decreased annual rainfall, drought, soil erosion, desertification and water scarcity further triggering internal and international mobility.
