🌍 So proud to have Lisa Howe, our Project Manager for the British Film Institute (BFI) Sustainable Screen partnership representing us at the Creative Cities Convention - discussing what we can all do to make our Film & TV industries more #sustainable! #events #BAFTA #BFI #SustainableProduction #Filmmaking #FilmProduction #Television #Conference
Was brilliant to back in Bristol yesterday catching up with so many familiar faces & making great new contacts at Creative Cities Convention. And it was an honour to represent WeAreALBERT to discuss the much-needed action we can all take to make our Film & TV industries more environmentally sustainable - some brilliant examples of innovative practice from Katherine Nash of The Bottle Yard Studios, Phil Holdgate of ITV Studios and Emily Dalton of Factual Fiction, superbly hosted by keen environmental advocate Qasá A. - felt truly inspired by you all.

What an incredible start to the Media Cymru Sustainability Coordinator training. Today we welcomed our six fantastic trainees to the first training session. A huge thank you to our trainers Tilly Ashton and Ellie Ashton for all of their hard work developing the course content and to Sally Lisk-Lewis who has masterminded and coordinated the training. Today we enjoyed getting started in the Screen Alliance Wales classroom at Bad Wolf Studios in Cardiff. Next week we'll be off to Dragon (TV & Film) Studios Wales for another packed day of training. #SustainabilityCoordinator #SustainabilityInFilmAndTV #SustainableProduction #Albert #ScreenNewDeal #GreeningTheScreen University of South Wales, Severn Screen, Ymddiried: Media Grants Cymru, WeAreALBERT, Sally Griffith, Greg Mothersdale

In response to the climate crisis, ScreenSkills is partnering with BAFTA WeAreALBERT to launch a new e-learning module on sustainability practices for the screen industries. Introduction to sustainability for the screen industries aims to empower anyone who is currently working, or thinking of working, in the UK screen industries with key information and knowledge to transform the sector. The free, 30-minute module covers: - The commitments already made by the screen industries, including net zero targets and the climate content pledge - The sustainability challenges and opportunities in the screen industries, why we need major transformation and what we must achieve - The key principles of sustainability for the screen industries - The action we can take as individuals within our different roles and departments to support the transformation of the screen industries. Matt Scarff, Managing Director at BAFTA albert says: "BAFTA albert are delighted to have been able to co-create this sustainability module with ScreenSkills. It offers a fantastic entry point for anyone in the screen industries to find out what climate change means, how the industries are already acting, and what the broader solutions are. It is vital that we all understand how we can have a positive impact through our roles so that we can create a sustainable future together." Last week we had an excellent tour and afternoon of learning with BBC Studioworks at Television Centre - one of the highest achievers amongst the cohort of now-30 studios participating in our Studio Sustainability Standard. The knowledge shared by Mark Lewis and Steve Smith was awesome 🤩 Really excellent to see their energy saving initiatives, waste avoidance and reduction efforts at this historic site. Choosing a certified studio sets the scene for further carbon emissions avoidance and also contributes to social impact. Find out more on the standard, which is also available for studios globally 👉https://lnkd.in/eQAd6EYy WeAreALBERT Arup Jung-Min Kim Florence Mansfield Sally Mills Matt Scarff

This week marks National #FoodWasteActionWeek, a campaign to help combat #ClimateChange by eliminating food waste. Catering on a film or TV production can lead to a lot of waste, but there are plenty of ways prevent it! See what producer Jennifer Monks had to say 👇 https://lnkd.in/eAYdDJdJ Tackling food waste is a core component of our work in the Off Screen Actions strand of the Climate Action Blueprint. The Blueprint underpins all of our work at BAFTA albert, and provides a foundation from which production companies, broadcasters, studios and everyone within the industry can drive meaningful change.
