When are SATs 2024?

If you want to find out when you're sitting your KS1 or KS2 SATs, this is the page for you. It's always good to know in advance when you'll be sitting a test so that you have time to prepare, so well done for checking!

Whether you're in year 2 or year 6, BBC Bitesize is filled with fun videos, activities and games to refresh what you've learned and get you feeling ready for your SATs in 2024.

The KS2 SATs dates for 2024 are Monday, 13 May to Thursday, 16 May. Have a look at the table below for the dates of each test.

Maths SATs - KS2

The Key Stage 2 maths tests will check your skills on arithmetic and reasoning.

The arithmetic test will check your skills on things like adding and subtracting, using fractions, decimals, and percentages.

The reasoning test is all about getting you to show how well you understand things like like algebra, volumes and simplifying fractions.

English SATs - KS2

The Key Stage 2 SATs papers for English will test you on grammar, punctuation and spelling as well as reading.

The grammar, punctuation and spelling paper will test you on everything from spelling, to pronouns, to conjunctions.

The reading paper will give you some short stories and non-fiction texts, which you'll be asked some questions about.

Key stage 1 SATs for year 2 students will take place during May 2024, with the specific dates decided by each school.

Maths SATs - KS1

In year one and year two, you will have learned about reasoning and arithmetic in maths.

At the end of year two, you'll have a test on both of these.

English SATs - KS1

In year one and year two, you will have learned reading and grammar, punctuation and spelling in English.

At the end of year two, you'll have a test on both of these.
