Narrator: This is Liberty, and she is five years old.
Today, Liberty will do something new for the first time, but what will it be?
Mum and Liberty carefully place the bulbs in the soil.
Liberty’s Mum: That one in?
Liberty: Yeah.
Narrator: These bulbs will grow into pretty daffodils.
Liberty’s Mum: Good job planting daffodils, everyone.
Liberty’s Dad: Yeah. Shall we celebrate Easter?
Children: Yeah!
Narrator: Celebrate Easter? That sounds amazing!
Easter is a Christian festival, which celebrates new life.
Good Friday is where people remember Jesus, and on Easter Sunday, they celebrate that he rose again. It’s celebrated by eating together as a family, and people often eat fish on Good Friday to remember Jesus sharing food with his followers.
People also eat chocolate eggs and decorate eggs with paint, or go on an Easter egg hunt.
Liberty and her family have come to a farm to look at some animals born in spring.
Liberty’s Mum: Brought you to come and see some baby animals that have been born in springtime.
Liberty’s brother: Yay!
Narrator: There are cows, lambs, goats and pigs! But Liberty has come to see some chickens. I hope you’re not ticklish! Everyone pets their baby chicks.
Liberty’s Mum: What does it feel like?
Liberty: It feels funny.
Narrator: Time to go to bed, little baby chick.
Back at home, Liberty and Dad are decorating Easter eggs.
Liberty’s Dad: Can you remember what eggs represent?
Liberty: New life.
Liberty’s Dad: New life, yeah. How would you like to do some decorating of eggs right now?
Liberty: Doing patterns.
Narrator: What a great idea, Liberty. Liberty paints some pink wiggly lines and Dad goes for blue diamonds.
Liberty: I think we’re finished.
Liberty’s Dad: Yeah. Which one’s your favourite?
Liberty: Erm…
Liberty’s Dad: Show me.
Liberty: This one.
Narrator: Wow! Liberty, these eggs will make some colourful decorations.
Liberty and her family have come to a park to go on a scavenger hunt.
Liberty and her family: One, two, three, go team!
Liberty’s Dad: Alright, let’s do this!
Liberty’s Mum: Let’s go! Yay!
Narrator: It’s a donkey!
Liberty: Let’s find the next clue.
Liberty’s Dad: Alright, let’s go!
Liberty: I think I found it.
Narrator: Well done! How about sitting down and finding the message behind all the treasures you’ve found?
Liberty’s Dad: Well, they’re things to help us tell the Easter story.
Narrator: Many people believe that Jesus died and three days later, rose from the dead. This is why people celebrate new life at Easter.
It’s finally time for the Easter picnic, and Liberty has come outdoors with her family.
Liberty: Are we ready to egg roll yet?
Narrator: An egg rolling competition? Awesome!
Liberty’s Mum: Shall we write everyone’s names on the eggs, then we know who’s going to win?
Narrator: Liberty, it’s your go first.
Liberty’s Dad: Oh, good job!
Liberty: I’ve had a really lovely Easter.
Liberty’s Mum: Yay!
Narrator: It’s been a great Easter indeed.
