How do I create a child profile on BBC iPlayer?

Setting up a child profile on BBC iPlayer is quick and easy, and you can do it from any of your devices. 

Setting up a profile on the BBC iPlayer mobile/tablet app:

  1. An adult will need to be signed in first to set up a child profile.
  2. After launching the app, tap the blue avatar on the top right of the home screen
  3. Select the pink monster/+ Add Child button on your account screen
  4. Create a display name. There’s a maximum of 50 characters. This can’t include special characters (e.g. %?£).
  5. Enter the date of birth. This is so your child can see content that's appropriate for their age. The maximum age for a child profile is the day before their 13th birthday.

  1. Select the pink monster/Add child icon when you open the app, or by selecting the blue and white initial on the top left of the homepage. An adult will need to be signed in already on that TV to set up a child profile.

  4. Choose a linked account. If there's more than one adult signed in to BBC iPlayer on your TV already, you'll need to choose an account to link the child profile to 


Setting up a child profile on the BBC iPlayer website

  1. Head to the iPlayer homepage bbc.co.uk/iplayer
  2. An adult will need to be signed in first to set up a child profile.
  3. Select the blue avatar on the top left of the home screen.

Children will not be able to sign in to other BBC websites and apps through their profiles.


Can I create more than one child profile?

Yes, you can:

  1. Tap/click the blue avatar on the top right on the mobile/tablet app and website, or go back to the Select Who’s Watching screen on TV
  2. Select the Add Child option again to create another child profile


Can I remove a child profile after it’s been created?

Yes, you can. You'll need to do this on a browser.

  1. Go to your BBC account settings
  2. Click into the Children's settings tab
  3. Click on Delete child profiles
  4. Select the child profile you want to delete
  5. Click the Delete button to confirm
