NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND OF THE UNITED KINGDOM

The National Federation of the Blind of the UK (NFB) was founded in 1947 by blind and partially sighted people and is an independent, non political, self help campaigning pressure group and registered charity. Today it is still run by blind and partially sighted people.

RNIB – THE ROYAL NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF BLIND PEOPLE

'Fight for Sight is the national charity funding pioneering eye research. They take on the biggest challenges in eye research, including the leading causes of blindness, glaucoma and macular degeneration. They work with children and adults with inherited eye diseases and their families to find new treatments. And because sight loss doesn't always start in the eye, they also fund research into sight loss caused by other diseases such as diabetes, dementia and stroke.'
