Carlos Corberan: West Bromwich Albion head coach signs new contract until end of 2026-27

West Brom head coach Carlos Corberan has signed a new deal to remain with the club amid speculation linking him with the managerial vacancy at Leeds.
The 39-year-old Spaniard, who has lost just three Championship games since arriving in October, has signed a new deal to the end of the 2026-27 season.
Corberan was Leeds assistant, working under Marcelo Bielsa, before becoming Huddersfield Town head coach in 2020.
"I am confident this is the right place for me," said Corberan.
"I believe that success can only be achieved when everyone works together.
"The way I have been made to feel welcome at this great club has made me confident that this is the right place for me."
After starting this season with Olimpiakos, since taking over from Steve Bruce, Corberan has overseen 11 wins in 16 league and cup games to steer the Baggies from the relegation zone to the top six
His success at The Hawthorns had helped link him with a return to Elland Road, following the Premier League strugglers' sacking of boss Jesse Marsch on Monday.
"I have always been impressed by Carlos," said Albion chief executive Gourlay, who spearheaded the mission to bring him to the Baggies. "And my admiration of him as a coach has only grown since he arrived.
"His passion for the game we all love has been infectious for all connected with the club, not least our players, who have clearly benefited from his first-class coaching, tactical knowhow, and attention to detail."

This is the best possible news as far as West Bromwich Albion fans are concerned. It has been quite a nervous 24 hours since Jesse Marsch was sacked by Leeds United.
I know Leeds United were keen on talking to Corberan. He was automatically going to be linked with Leeds because he'd worked there previously, but this puts that to bed.
It doesn't necessarily mean that he's going to remain at the club until 2027. It just means Albion have staved off interest from Leeds.
When this season concludes, with Albion hopefully promoted back to the Premier League, probably via the play-offs, then everybody's going to sit down and see where we are.
But Corberan was clearly in a very strong bargaining position. He's been an incredible success story. The players have bought in - and it would have threatened to derail the season if he'd upped and left.
