Mads Frokjaer: Ryan Lowe says Preston North End midfielder has 'proven his worth'

Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe says midfielder Mads Frokjaer has proven his worth at the club after having to give him some "tough love".

The 24-year-old joined from Danish side Odense for an undisclosed fee in July and has made 26 appearances.

In that time the Dane has scored three goals and provided four assists, two of which have come in his past two games.

"He's a player that is a thinker and comes in the coach's office all the time, and wants to speak," Lowe said.

He told BBC Radio Lancashire: "If he's not sure, he asks the question, which is what we want.

"There's been some tough love with him, I must say, but he's a great kid and a fantastic character.

"He's a great footballer. Earlier on in the season he was excellent, then he came out the team and was coming on trying to impress too much.

"I said to him I'm impressed by doing the simple things. He's proven his worth now. We always knew he'd have a bit of a dip, just because he wasn't playing but all of a sudden, since the Bristol City game he's shone."

Despite only scoring three goals so far this season, the most recent of which came in Preston's 1-1 draw with Millwall on 21 October, Lowe is impressed with Frokjaer's performances in training.

"If he can continue the form he's showing now, he'll be disappointed if he's not getting more goals because he's getting in those positions," Lowe added.

"But his goalscoring in training is a different class and he's one of the best finishers at the club."
