  1. Birmingham Phoeninx win the toss and will bowl first

Nat Sciver calls wrong so Sophie Devine and the Phoenix will bowl first.

Sciver is back in the side to captain the Rockets for the first time this season after the Commonwealth Games and is buzzing to captain some of these overseas players. And who could blame her?!

Birmingham Phoenix captain Sophie Devine: "It looks like there's some grass on top and we want to make use of the green wicket first.

"The Hundred is quick! I know it's only 20 balls difference but there's a real step up in intensity, I really enjoyed it.

"I think it may give me some advantage knowing the conditions here from the Commonwealth Games but the wicket has played fantastically this summer, they have done a really good job providing pitches that have runs in them but something for the bowlers too."

    Talking of turn....

We saw Trent Rockets' overseas leggie Alana King take a blistering hat-trick on Saturday against the Manchester Originals. She spun her team to victory and the Originals' batters had no answer to it. She took the responsibility entirely on herself and wasn't risking any dropped catches on the hat-trick ball a la Commonwealth Games. Instead the incredible feat read: "bowled, LBW, bowled." What was also remarkable was that there was an appeal on the next ball that wasn't sent upstairs but could easily have been four in four! She's just a bit good.

I'm pretty sure English fans are going to be haunted by the name Alana King for many years to come. But if it means I can get my hands on a pair of those sunnies, then I'll allow it!

Let's just think about her 2022...

    • Makes Aussie debut
    • Wins the Ashes
    • Wins the World Cup
    • Wins the Commonwealth Games
    • Lights up the Hundred with a hat-trick

Another Aussie in action and back on form is Ellyse Perry who is thoroughly enjoying her time in orange and red and scored an unbeaten half century for the Phoenix against Welsh Fire as they well and truly doused their flames.

So, today we've got two teams riding high of convincing wins, lots of overseas stars ready to prove themselves, and a battle between England team-mates Amy Jones and Nat Sciver.

This is the excitement every Monday needs.

  3. Post update

Georgie with you! I've recovered after witnessing that incredible hundred from Will Jacks last night, and am caffeinated and ready to take you through the first 100 balls of today's action.

Lining up this afternoon we've got a double header between Birmingham Phoenix and Trent Rockets and opening up proceedings it's the turn of the women.
