That's all from this live page - thank you for joining us.

My colleague Callum Matthews' match report is now live and can be found here.

If you want some more cricket then look no further...

...our text coverage of England men's second ODI against West Indies will get under way shortly over here.

We will be back for the second T20 between England women and India from 13:15 GMT on Saturday.

    See you there.

  2. Post update

    Alex Hartley

Former England bowler on TNT Sports

That's how England will have wanted to start the series. We were talking about how they may struggle against India's spinners as they did in the past against Australia and Sri Lanka. It has been a real target for England to try and get better and it worked today.

India weren't as good as they could have been but England were absolutely outstanding with the bat.

  3. Post update

England opener Danni Wyatt: "Really enjoyed it out there. The pitch was a little tricky. Anything a bit back of a length was a bit hard. Nat [Sciver-Brunt] was scoring runs all the time, she is such a calm person to bat with. I thought we ran really well and thought the sweep and hitting the pockets were good options tonight.

"There was a bit of movement up top. Renuka [Singh Thakur] is a world class bowler. But I said to Nat it wouldn't swing for long so just get through that and build a big partnership. I thought Nat batted beautifully tonight and it was good fun out there with her.

"I thought everyone bowled exceptionally well and it was great to get out there with everyone. We had a great time out in Oman in similar conditions to this and looking forward to getting back out there on Saturday."

This has been such a professional performance from England. Depth in the batting and then clear plans with the ball. You can’t ask for much more than that to start a series.

  5. England win by 38 runs

A rare misfield gifts India four runs to end the match but it has no bearing of the result.

India can only reach 159-6, meaning England win by 38 runs.

  6. Ind 155-6

Pooja Vastrakar smacks the ball straight cover for a dot ball.

Final ball of the match coming up.

  7. Ind 155-6

Lauren Bell bangs one in short and Pooja Vastrakar pulls away for a single. Shafali Verma then pushes to deep mid-wicket for another single.

India just going through the motions now.

  8. Ind 153-6

Lauren Bell will bowl the final over of the match as Deepti Sharma pushes the first ball away for a single.

  9. Ind 152-6

Brilliant from Sophie Ecclestone. A wicket and a single from that over means she ends with figures of 3-15.

    Welcome back, Sophie.

  10. WICKET

    Ahuja c Sciver-Brunt b Ecclestone 15 (Ind 151-6)

    Sophie Ecclestone does it again!

Kanika Ahuja has no choice but to go for the big shot in search of a boundary but can only find the sage hands of Nat Sciver-Brunt on the mid-wicket boundary.

  11. Ind 151-5

    Target 198

England have been excellent in the field today but Alice Capsey may have done herself some damage as her knee gets stuck in the turf as she slides to claw back the ball from the boundary.

She has a grimace on her face but looks ok to stay on the field.

Pooja Vastrakar keeps India's hopes alive by clubbing the final ball of Nat Sciver-Brunt's over away for four.

47 needed from the final two overs.

  12. Ind 140-5

India need 58 from 18 balls

India now have two new batters at the crease in Kanika Ahuja and Pooja Vastrakar.

It would take something pretty special for India to win it from here, you would think.

  13. WICKET

    Verma c Glenn b Ecclestone 52 (Ind 134-5)1

Big, big wicket. Is this the game?

Sophie Ecclestone strikes for the second time as Shafali Verma goes for a big heave but can only top-edge the ball towards Sarah Glenn at backward point.

The crowd at the Wankhede is silenced. England are jubilant.

  14. Ind 133-4

India need 65 runs from 24 balls

Lauren Bell drops all the pace from her deliveries, which makes it hard for the India batters to time their shots.

Bell blots her copybook slightly with one down the leg-side that escapes down for five wides. We have had a few of those today.

  15. 50 for Shafali Verma

Shafali Verma pushes a single of Sarah Glenn's final ball to bring up a fine half-century from just 37 deliveries.

It feels like India's hopes are resting on her shoulders.

Glenn finishes with fine figures of 1-25 from her four overs.

  16. WICKET

    Ghosh c Capsey b Glenn 21 (Ind 122-4)

    That one is taken though!

Richa Ghosh goes for another big heave but it does not have the power and Alice Capsey can take the catch stationed on the long-on boundary.

    Capsey barely had to move.

  17. Ind 119-3

    Ooh, is that a chance?

Nat Sciver-Brunt, who took a wicket in her first over, comes back into the attack and Richa Ghosh skies one into the dark Mumbai sky.

Heather Knight goes after it from cover but cannot quite get underneath the ball and even a despairing dive cannot prevent it from landing on the turf.

  18. Post update

India are still behind England's rate but the way they are accelerating means we could be in for a thrilling finish.

Great to see Shafali Verma getting runs. When she burst onto the scene in 2020 her bravery and carefree approach was one of the best things in the women’s game. She looks in lovely touch.

  20. Ind 110-3

Lauren Bell is back into the attack and her first ball is clattered through the covers by Shafali Verma, who is looking in superb touch.

Her last ball is a slower delivery that Verma picks instantly and hammers back over her head for another boundary.
