England batter Zak Crawley on TNT Sports: "They played very well, obviously Jaiswal played an unbelievable innings and Bumrah was very, very good. He bowled some unplayable balls.

"I feel like we are still in the game massively. We back ourselves to chase a score on the fourth or fifth day.

"I felt in good touch out there. I was able to hit the ball cleanly, and in the areas I wanted to but it was disappointing to get out when I did as the ball started to reverse and it made things tricky for the new lads coming in.

"But it's going to go that way sometimes when we want to play positively like we do.

"We're taking the scoreboard out of it and playing our game the way that we want to, just as we have done the past couple of years. Hopefully that's good enough for us at the end but if not, we'll go again.

"Our approach won't change, despite the pitch and whatever they set us. We believe we can chase anything. We might not, but the belief is always there."

There are a couple of things that makes Jasprit Bumrah extra difficult to face. His arm is much closer to you as a batter than most others, so you have so much less time from that angle.

He uses that to his advantage. He is so flexible in his arm, so not only is he bowling of upwards of 90mph, he's bowling it from about a yard further forward then any other bowler.

As a batter you've always got to try and be one step ahead of him. He gets into your head as well because you just know that he can make the ball move in any direction he wants it to. He is a bowler like no other and he is very hard to prepare for.

India bowler Jasprit Bumrah on TNT Sports: "Yes, always enjoy getting the rewards. When you play in India, reverse swing plays an important role and learning to play cricket here, you get a good understanding of how to use it to your advantage. So yeah, there is no better feeling.

"If you want to take wickets as a fast in India, you have got to learn to use reverse swing because the new ball doesn't always do much for you. As a child, I grew up watching legendary bowlers using it to bowl magical deliveries and it really inspired me. It is something that I practiced a lot, learning to set up the batters and making it a strength of mine.

"Sometimes you can try and force the magical deliveries but it's also about being patient and setting the batter up over time. You have to have a plan and use every delivery wisely. I was very happy to execute today and happy to contribute on that pitch.

"After the Ollie Pope delivery I did think that they would be expecting more in-swingers so that brings the outside edge into play for me.

"I am very happy but I try not to look at numbers. I don't want to put more pressure on myself and think about milestones. Playing Test cricket has been my dream so whenever I get tired or things don't go my way, I remind myself that I am doing what I have always wanted to do and I will always put in the effort for that."

I wonder what the mood will be like in the England changing room tonight. They'll obviously back themselves, that's the way under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, but there must be a tinge of disappointment in there.

They would have been delighted with their work in the morning, wrapping up the final four India wickets for 60 runs, before reaching 32-0 at lunch.

They extended that to 114-1 but then Jasprit Bumrah turned up. They were 182-7 exactly 20 overs later but showed more grit and determination to reach 253, a deficit of 143.

Early wickets will be the mindset in the morning.

There's one down the ground, before some width opens up the cut, and then an over-correction allows for another straight drive.

There was a half-hearted appeal for lbw off the final ball, more from the slips than Anderson, but it was too high.
