India seal 106-run win over England in second Test - reaction

India will be relieved more than anything. They were under the cosh after the first Test.

There will definitely be things that England will take from this game, though. This Indian side can definitely be beaten again. England have got close here without any hundreds. They'll be disappointed.

The good thing about the 10-day gap though, is that the players will get plenty of rest.

And that means we'll probably (hopefully) see these two back in action again.

They've both been a joy to watch over the past four days.

Player of the match Jasprit Bumrah on TNT Sports: "I don't look at numbers. I used to do that as a youngster and it made me excited but if you think about it too much, it adds baggage to the pressure that is already on as an India player. But I am just so happy that we won, and it feels even better to contribute to that success.

"The yorker is the first delivery that I learned. As a kid I saw so many legends bowling it and I learned it playing tape ball cricket. I used to feel that was the only way to take wickets and I love using it to my advantage, even in Test cricket.

"I don't see myself as the leader of the attack but we do have some new younger bowlers so I do enjoy having that responsibility of helping them and guiding them where I can.

"I am a fast bowling fan, before being a cricketer. It is all I have ever enjoyed watching and doing. So I always enjoy watching fast bowlers, even on the other team.

"I look at the situation, I look at the wicket and then I look to solve the problem from there. I am not a one-trick pony, so I will look at different things and different options."

There's a 10-day gap between now and the third Test. What are we supposed to do?

India captain Rohit Sharma on Jasprit Bumrah: "He's a champion player for us, he's been a while doing a job for the team. When you win a game like that, you have to look at the overall performance. We were good with the bat and we knew winning a test match in these conditions, we needed our bowlers to step up and he did that.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's performance: "He looks like a great player, that was an exceptional knock. He's got a lot to offer and I hope he stays quite humble and focusses on what he needed from the team.

Did you want more runs as a team?: "The wicket was really good to bat on, a lot of batters got a start but didn't get a big score but I understand, they are very young and new to this format. This win will give them a lot of confidence to play freely.

Delighted with the win?: "Very, very proud of a young squad in the Test matches they've played to come out and play a Test match like that. A lot of the guys are quite young to be spot on, but a little bit time and more freedom is something we want our guys to have.

A great series at 1-1?: "We know we were up against a good challenge, the last couple of years England have been playing really good cricket so it was always going to be tough. It's a good a win but it's a tough series.

Jasprit is obviously on the opposing side but sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say, what a player. But Jimmy is exactly that as well."

Chasing 399 on a fourth-day pitch in India against their attack was never going to be easy but England had us believing, and that shows they've won a big part of the battle in itself.

There was some frustration about the way some batters got out but you also have to credit Jasprit Bumrah's brilliance.

He is named player of the match, pipping Yashasvi Jaiswal, and we'll get his thoughts shortly as well as India captain Rohit Sharma.

England captain Ben Stokes on TNT Sports: "Coming into the last innings we had full belief in ourselves that we could chase it down. The way in which we went about taking on that challenge is what we're all about.

"There are times when you have scoreboard pressure and a lot of runs to chase down, and that's when our approach and how we want to go about things really comes out.

"I thought today, we applied ourselves and put their bowlers under pressure and it was great. Congratulations to India, obviously we ended up on the wrong side of the result, but it was another great game to be a part of.

"There's no suggestion from me about how people should go out and play. It's about how you feel comfortable playing on the day and at the time. We knew the task ahead of us but every player in that dressing room is a quality player, good enough to judge the situations and the conditions.

"It wasn't a challenge [dealing with three inexperienced spinners]. Looking at them, five or six Tests between them, to bowl the way they did yesterday without Joe - what they produced was incredible. They showed a lot of maturity and skills beyond their years and I am very proud of them."

England lost the game because not one of their batsman had a match-winning innings. That is what they'll look back at. Scores of 30-70 don't win Test matches.

I can understand that - looking at the margin of victory, yes, India won comprehensively.

But there's more to it than that, isn't it? England are way more competitive in India than they were last time, and for a team that are so dominant in their own conditions to look so rattled and nervous at times - that says a lot about the impact England are having.

Of course, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill were a lot more disciplined than England - they made the most of their starts where England couldn't. But the psychological effect that England have had is massive and while they've lost here, it sets up the series beautifully and it'll be intriguing to see how India approach the next one.

A reminder that the last time England toured India, their scores in their second innings were 178, 164, 81 and 135. They weren't being competitive. England are now competitive.

India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal: "Of course it's a wonderful feeling and I really enjoyed the match, it was wonderful. It's always wonderful to win a Test for your country and I really enjoyed the game.

On the gameplan: "We just focussed on our game, getting into those good areas, focussed on our processes and played well.

What did you make of the pitch today?: "There was some cracks and there was a bit for the seam. That's all I can say right now.

Differences between red ball and white ball cricket?: "It's absolutely different because my mindset is different, I just go on it from the first ball and try to make sure my intent is always there.

What did you make of the bowling of Jaspirit Bumrah?: "I think the way Bumrah bowled, it's incredible. Even in the slips it was coming too fast and we knew if there was a catch, we would take it. It was a great match.

Your performance: "My intent was to look to score runs and face as many balls as I could and continue to build my innings.

Well played, India. England showed a lot of fight but India's bowlers were far too good, they proved too much.

You're never going to get 400 in the fourth-innings in India but England showed fight, and that they can really mix it with the Indian team.

Jasprit Bumrah has won his side the game. He should be the man of the match.

Will be a tough choice between him and Yashasvi Jaiswal for player of the match. Jaiswal set it up with his runs on the board, considering the rest of the line-up didn't contribute, but Bumrah finished it off.

Excellent fightback from India to level the series. Ravichandran Ashwin was vital opening up the top order with the wickets of Joe Root and Ollie Pope before lunch. And the seamers in particular Bumrah to clean up the tail. The series is poised nicely!
