  12. Bernardo wants to join Barca in 'ideal world'

The Athletic's Adam Crafton says Manchester City forward Bernardo Silva would want to sign for Barcelona "in an ideal world".

On Tuesday the Manchester Evening News reported City had reached an agreement with Barcelona to sell the Portuguese playmaker.

But journalist Crafton told the BBC Transfer Gossip Daily podcast "nothing has been agreed between the two clubs".

"I think where it’s at is he’s one of the players Barcelona would really like to sign," Crafton added.

"Manchester City know that Bernado, in an ideal world, would love to join Barcelona.

"I think it’s one of those deals which become more likely if Barcelona sell Frenkie de Jong, then that could free up some funds in order to sign Bernardo Silva."

  19. Michael Knighton wants to get the Glazers out of Man Utd

    Simon Stone

    BBC Sport

Michael Knighton famously came close to buying Manchester United in 1989, even to the extent of juggling the ball in front of a packed Stretford End before the opening game against Arsenal.

Knighton is back making headlines, claiming he has put together a consortium that is going to lodge a hostile takeover of United.

Speaking to BBC Sport this morning, Knighton accepts meeting the Glazer family's valuation will not be easy but he feels United's controversial American owners are starting to realise any remaining neutrality amongst the club's support is disappearing amid a chaotic start to the season and pursuit of players like 33-year-old striker Marko Arnautovic.

The Glazers have never shown any indication they will sell - and club sources are not taking Knighton seriously.

However, the noise around the Glazer ownership is growing - and the protests around Sunday's game against Brighton are set to continue.
