Partnerships

The BBC has hundreds of partnerships – small and large - ranging from international cultural institutions, industry bodies and universities, to charities, festivals, community groups, other media organisations and global tech companies.

The Royal Charter states that:

The BBC must work collaboratively and seek to enter into partnerships with other organisations, particularly in the creative economy, where to do so would be in the public interest.

The BBC’s Partnerships team aims to maximise the impact and value of partnerships across the organisation, for the BBC, for our partners, and most importantly, for our audiences. Through collaboration, the BBC and its partners create ambitious content; achieving more than each organisation could alone and reaching wider audiences.

We are led by the BBC’s Commissioning Strategy, and work with commissioning teams to form new partnerships with external organisations which contribute to our creative content.

The Partnerships team also works to inspire and support colleagues across the BBC in creating great partnerships through sharing useful resources, including guidance, research, training opportunities and inspiration. We have a simple and consistent approach to managing our key partners, highlighting successes and aiming to be the best partner we can be.

The Group Partnerships team regularly commissions research to gain insight into how to maximise the value of our relationships and the impact they are having. This understanding helps to guide us towards the areas for focus and improvement.

Each year we report on our partnerships in our Annual report and accounts.

If you would like to start a conversation about a partnership with the BBC, please contact [email protected]

We will aim to reply within seven working days.
