6 ways to be kind to your selfie

Body positivity can be a hard thing to put into practice but if you're struggling with your self-love, here are our 6 awesome tips. If you remember these, it can make it easier to #bebodykind:

1. You are unique

We all come in different shapes and sizes but sometimes we can focus on the parts of our bodies that we don’t like and forget to big up the bits we do like!

It feels good to celebrate the things that make you special.

Why not try noting down all of your favourite things about yourself for only you to read? This can be difficult but it does become easier the more you do it.

2. Don't compare yourself to others

What you see online is often not the original image.

Photoshop, filters, lighting and camera angles can be used to change the way people look. While it can be fun to experiment, remember it’s not all real.

Take notice of people and things that make you feel empowered and happy. You can also cut out people if you notice they make you feel worse about yourself.

3. Today is a new day

So try to be positive about yourself and other people. Be kind to others and to yourself.

Some of the thoughts and feelings we have about our own bodies are things we would never think about other people. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

What do you love about you? Be thankful for who you are. Your positivity is infectious.

4. No one is better than you - we are all just different

No one’s life is perfect, no matter how it looks online.

We all feel jealous at times but instead of letting it make you feel bad, try and think think about what you have that is unique to you and that you’re proud of.

And if it’s really getting you down, talk to someone you trust about your feelings.

5. Positivity is powerful

Positive thoughts can take your resilience and confidence-building to a whole new level.

Resilience means being able to adapt to and recover from tough situations. Being resilient can help us manage feelings of anxiety and uncertainty – and it’s a skill we build up over time.

Being resilient doesn’t mean you have to be ‘tough’ all the time, or cope with difficult things alone. In fact, sharing your thoughts and worries can be a really important part of overcoming challenges or obstacles.

6. Smile!

Smile in your photos, in your videos and smile in your life. The power of a smile is so underrated.

Endorphins are released when you smile, which in turn make you feel happier. It’s a circle of goodness.
