1. Getting started
Just like with any language, you have to start with the basics.
You can find great starter steps on the BBC Bitesize website.
Scratch is also great to use when you're first learning how to code.
2. Choose a language
Next, you should choose which language to learn.
There are loads to choose from:
- Python
- HTML & CSS
- C#
- Java
- AND MORE
To start with, it's probably best to learn one at a time, so you don't get confused!
3. Figure out what's right for you
Different people learn in different ways.
You might like watching videos, or you might want to try things out for yourself.
There are many great places online to help you learn to code - you just need to find the right one for you!
4. Pick a project
OK, so you know the basics? And you kind of understand a coding language?
All that's left is to work out what you want to create first.
You could make an interactive game, write a secret message, or even build a website or an app?
This may seem daunting at first but follow the rules step-by-step and you'll do great!
5. Rule the world!
Once you've learnt all these new skills, there's no limit to what you can do.
In future, coding will help you in lots of different jobs - not just computing.
