Brighton 2-1 Reading: Lee Geum-min & Kate Robinson strikes seal win

Brighton celebrate Lee Geum-min's opening goal
Lee Geum-min's first-half goal helped make it five wins from six matches for Brighton Women at the Amex Stadium

Goals from Lee Geum-min and Katie Robinson proved enough to give Brighton a first win of the season and condemned Reading to a second defeat in the Women's Super League.

Lee scored first as Brighton dominated the opening half at the Amex Stadium.

Reading improved in the second half but they were picked off on the break 10 minutes from time as Lee set up Robinson for the second goal.

Charlie Wellings scored a consolation for Reading late in stoppage time.

Both sides suffered 4-0 defeats on the opening day, but Brighton bounced back the strongest to dominate the opening 45 minutes, firing in 11 shots while Reading failed to muster a single effort on goal.

Lee was twice denied by Reading goalkeeper Grace Moloney after bursting clear of a static defence that struggled to come to terms with the intensity shown by Hope Powell's side.

Reading did have a header from Emma Mukandi ruled out for offside, while Lee also had a finish disallowed for offside a minute later.

There was no doubting the validity of her opening goal as she stroked home into an empty net five minutes before the break after Moloney fumbled a Jorja Fox cross into her path.

Reading debutant Diane Caldwell was replaced by Lauren Wade at the start of the second half as the visitors came out strongly in search of a first WSL win since a 2-1 victory at Everton in February.

Natasha Dowie missed their best chance, dragging an instinctive shot wide of an open goal after a Tia Primmer rebound fell at her feet.

Robinson doubled Brighton's lead with her first goal for the club, but the visitors kept pushing and were eventually rewarded with a fine strike from Wellings - Reading's 13th shot of the second half.
