Heat records broken around the world

September brought record-breaking temperatures around the globe and 2023 is firmly on course to be the world's hottest year on record.

With much of that heat continuing into October - and El Niño tightening its grip - BBC Weather's Ben Rich takes a look at some of the extremes we have seen around the world recently.
