Belize Waterfalls

No matter how perfect you think your vacation to Belize may be, it can and should be improved with at least one trip involving a waterfall. While any waterfall makes for an amazing backdrop to a great time, the areas surrounding Belize’s waterfalls are on a whole other level.

Belize is host to an expansive number of waterfalls and all of this cascading water can be a boon to any tropical nation. When your country sees temperatures locked in between the 70s and 80s with humidity that usually keeps even with those temperatures, the chance to go for a swim and bask in a cool refreshing waterfall can be a welcome respite from even the muggiest of days. The fact that many of Belize’s waterfalls are found in natural areas so beautiful they are worthy of photography is also a nice feature.

The bulk of Belize’s waterfalls can be found within its lush jungle terrain. While you might hear this and think that reaching a waterfall is the reward for hacking through muggy overgrowth with a machete, the truth is far from this. Locals and expats know that Belize’s waterfalls are a major feature worth checking out and so many trails and even guide tours have emerged to help bring as many interested people to the waterfalls as easily as possible. As one example of this easing access to Belize’s gorgeous waterfalls, Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve is home to the impressively named 1,600 foot high Thousand Foot Falls.

If you want to commune with the planet’s natural beauty, catch a break from the humidity or just recharge your batteries, visit one of Belize’s many waterfalls. You will not only have a great adventure but it will make for a great story to tell years after your trip to Belize.
