Three friends aim to visit every Greggs store in Bristol tomorrow (Thursday, April 11) as part of a unique challenge to raise money for charity. Holly, Laura and Hannah will take on the 'Sausage Stroll' which will see them walk to every Greggs in Bristol in the space of one day, in a journey which is 26 miles in length.

The trio, who all live in Bristol, will be raising money for cancer charity Maggie’s Nottingham, which helped support a friend of the group’s mum. The charity provides support to those affected by cancer and supports those through the difficult process of dealing with cancer.

The Sausage Stroll will start at the Fishponds Greggs in Fishponds Road at 6am on Thursday, and the women will spend the day getting an item from each Greggs store across the city as part of their “pilgrimage”. They hope to finish the challenge at some point between 6pm and 8pm tomorrow night.

Laura said: “We all love a sausage roll! I think it will take around 12 hours to complete this challenge. We want to raise £1,000 to support Maggie’s which is a great cause and a remarkable charity. The money we raise from this will help bring more resources and help more people get through it.”

Hannah has done fundraising in the past, including undertaking endurance marathons, but she didn’t want this new fundraiser to be boring. She added: “We wanted to keep this fun and light. We wanted to spread joy and do something that nobody has done before. Something nobody has even thought of before.”

The fundraiser has raised more than £400 so far, and the group are extremely grateful for all the support they have received. Laura added: “We want to say thank you for supporting our pilgrimage and helping more people.

“We want the people of Bristol to look out for us tomorrow. Give us a beep or a nudge. We will be wearing face paints and hope to bring smiles to everyone.”

Their fundraising page on JustGiving added: “We decided to mix our passion for pastry with raising money for charity, and take on the Greggs pilgrimage, visiting every Greggs in Bristol. On April 11, we will visit every one of the 20 Greggs stores in Bristol! We’re covering a staggering 26 miles in one day, in support of a cause very close to our hearts.

“By undertaking this journey, we aim to raise both awareness and funds to support Maggie's incredible work. Every step we take will be in honour of those fighting cancer and in gratitude for the vital support provided by Maggie's.

“We invite you to join us on this journey by supporting our fundraising efforts. Your generous donations will not only spur us on during our marathon of pastry consumption but, more importantly, will directly contribute to helping Maggie's continue their vital services for those in need. Thank you for your support, encouragement, and generosity.

"We'll probably never want to see a sausage roll again."
