A pop-up restaurant has welcomed its first diners through the doors of the old Klosterhaus building in Quakers Friars this week. Sonny Stores, which can usually be found on Raleigh Road in Southville, has temporarily closed its permanent restaurant, and has popped up in the location next to Cabot Circus.

Taking to Instagram on the weekend, the team at Sonny Stores said: "We're open! Thank you to everyone who popped by our Friary Building pop up for yesterday. We're going to be very happy in this spot for the next couple of months."

The Sonny Stores pop-up at The Friary will run from April 5 to June 2, and the Raleigh Road restaurant will reopen on June 4. Lunch will be available at the pop-up site between Thursday to Sunday, with the set lunch three-course meal for £25 offer being available on Thursdays and Fridays.

Dinner is available from Wednesday to Saturday, and the menu will continue to change daily in order to "work with the best seasonal produce". The team goes on to say: "We welcome walk-ins, but we do advise booking ahead for busy periods.

"You are welcome to pop in for a drink. We will have a bar menu as well as the usual menu. We have a lot more space at this venue, so please do get in touch with big party requests, we would love to host you."

Sonny Stores is a family-run restaurant with a strong Italian influence, which offers up everything from a quick plate of pasta, to a leisurely three-course meal and a bottle of organic wine. It was started by husband and wife team Mary Glynn and Pegs Quinn in September 2020, when it started life as a lockdown delivery-only pizza business.

The site of their new pop-up - The Friary building - was formerly home to German restaurant Klosterhaus, which opened in the Grade I-listed building in October 2020, and closed in January 2023.
