🌟 The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe #PACE calls for new and more robust child protection laws online 🌟 The goal is to strike a balance: protecting children from harmful content while ensuring they can still benefit from the internet. Here are some key recommendations from #PACE: ↪ Age verification helps prevent exposure to inappropriate content.   ↪ Ban of harmful “deepfakes” and their removal from digital platforms.   ↪ Implementing school-based programmes can educate children about online safety.   ↪ Engaging parents and caregivers are equally important.   ↪ Comprehensive sexuality education: This empowers children to make informed decisions and stay safe online.   ↪ Creating “hash databases” can help identify and locate children who are victims of sexual exploitation or abuse.   ↪ Collaboration with the tech industry to address cyberbullying, harassment, and online hatred.   ↪ Products designed for children should include default safety features to enhance protection without hindering usability.   ↪ Interpol’s co-operation in sharing information on child sexual abuse cases is crucial for child protection and countering cybercrime.       PACE also called on countries that haven't done so yet to accede to the Council of Europe Convention on the protection of children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse - #CoELanzarote Convention and Convention on #Cybercrime (Budapest Convention). Let’s prioritise our children’s safety online! 🌐👦👧  ℹ https://lnkd.in/dxnZbsTr   #ChildProtection #OnlineSafety

📢 The Council of Europe’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture #CPT has issued a set of standards and recommendations for European prisons.      Their focus? Ensuring that transgender prisoners receive the respect and protection they deserve.      🔍 Key Takeaways from the CPT Report:     ➡ One of the main challenges is the wide divergence in the criteria for placing transgender persons, depending on individual states’ policies. ➡ Transgender persons held in detention face heightened risks of intimidation and abuse. ➡ The CPT aims to provide guidance to governments and prison administrations to harmonize policies regarding transgender prisoners. ➡ Governments should establish safeguards to prevent ill-treatment of transgender persons in detention. Respectful treatment is essential, and an interdisciplinary approach (legal, medical, and social) is crucial. ➡ Some states still deny the existence of transgender persons. The CPT calls for specific provisions to address this oversight. Let’s stand together for dignity and care, and advocate for better treatment of transgender prisoners. ℹ https://lnkd.in/dMNu6qtE    #HumanRights #TransRights #CPTReport #InclusionMatters
