Hey ya’ll, I’ve just returned from spending the last two weeks working from Moloco's Beijing office! 🇨🇳 Some takeaways informed by discussions with marketers, agencies, and internal subject matter experts: 📈 Launches are critical - The China team helps with hundreds of new game launches every quarter. The launch period is crucial for capturing market share. Our China team is experts in using a variety of campaign optimization targets during a launch - starting with Install, CPA, and ROAS campaigns that target all NOAM geos allows for fast budget adjustments as performance differentiates the strategies. 🤖 Agencies are scaling performance spending - Mobile performance agencies are dominant in China and Moloco works with MadHouse, China’s premier agency. I was thankful to attend an event in Guangzhou that was co-hosted by Moloco, Madhouse, Checkout, and Adjust. It was helpful for all involved to bring the whole ecosystem together: measurement, network, and agency. Really excited about our partner program’s global traction. 📐 Measurement is key and confusing - D1, D3, and D7 ROAS targets with an MMP as the source of truth are the most common performance north stars for Chinese mobile performance marketers. Moloco relies only on third-party attribution via MMPs or SKAN for measuring our success and the team has been able to provide valuable consultative insights on interpreting marketing data. 🛍️ Not surprising: new products that get advertised receive 10-15 times more engagement than non-advertised products. But that's not the whole story. Too many ads are just terribly targeted. Ads need to be seamlessly woven into the user experience in order to drive results.
