The first iteration of the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Safeguards framework is out and open for public comments. It investigates one of six areas that comprise the framework, namely the risks associated with DPI implementation and the mitigation strategies that can be deployed to ensure trust in the way DPI functions and is governed. The DPI Safeguards is a multi-stakeholder initiative, stewarded by the Office of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology and UNDP. It aims to shape the future of global digital infrastructure, ensuring it is safe, inclusive, and beneficial for all. 🔗 Read the draft below, contribute to the discussions and share with others: https://go.undp.org/Z4x #SafeDPI

Since 2016, we've been partners with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to unlock financing for the Sustainable Development Goals towards a greener, more inclusive, and sustainable future.   Our flagship TADAMON Platform equips local non-profits across the world with the skills needed for crowdfunding and digital fundraising, enabling them to respond to community development needs, from reconstructing homes in Pakistan post-floods and enhancing education in Palestine, to solar panels to keep lights running in Lebanese schools. As of 2023, over 600 non-profits have completed crowdfunding training in 34 countries and raised $12.1 million through digital fundraising and partnerships. Through the Youth Digitalization for Employability and Entrepreneurship Program, we are building more agile national entrepreneurship ecosystems, digital skills and knowledge for the 21st century economy, starting with an initial 35,000 individuals for the workforce across Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Maldives. As we join IsDB for its 2024 Annual Meeting in Riyadh and 50th Anniversary, see how we partner for results: https://lnkd.in/ehyTpsQF #IsDB50 #IsDBAM2024

The climate emergency is affecting people’s lives on every continent. In 2023, the world experienced the warmest year on record. The number of violent conflicts are also at their highest since the United Nations was founded in 1945. An estimated 2 billion people live in fragile and conflict-affected areas and 3.3 to 3.6 billion people are in highly vulnerable contexts because of climate change. 70% of the most climate-vulnerable countries are also among the most politically and economically fragile. Climate change does not directly lead to conflict or instability, but it can interact negatively with the factors that impact the lives of those most vulnerable in social, political, and economic ways. When those risks are not addressed, new crises and conflicts can erupt, or it can exacerbate existing tensions. That’s why addressing climate-related security risks is central for local sustainable development, and to prevent future conflicts. See how we're working with governments and communities in 120 countries and territories to improve climate security and help countries to implement the Sustainable Development Goals. https://lnkd.in/eUfJFBSD

At current trends, countries will miss global targets for reducing malaria, a potentially fatal disease that hits rural populations living in poverty, with less education or limited healthcare access, the hardest. Because malaria is often influenced by socioeconomic inequities and environmental conditions beyond healthcare, we need multisectoral approaches to #EndMalaria and advance human development for those left furthest behind. On #WorldMalariaDay, learn how we find synergies across sectors with RBM Partnership to End Malaria and UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme) to unlock health and development progress together: https://lnkd.in/dTb8KB5J
