To mark Discover! Creative Careers Week 2023, BBC Studioworks, BBC East Enders and BBC Studios Drama welcomed 30 students to Albert Square last weekend. The students, who study at The Chauncy School and Parmiter’s School, were given a tour of the set, as well as the opportunity to hear about creative career prospects at the BBC. A big thank you to ScreenSkills and Discover Creative Careers for including us in this wonderful initiative.

"It's hard to pursue a career, if you don't know it exists." The British Film Institute (BFI)’s report ‘What’s stopping young people from pursuing a career in the screen industries?’ indicates there is a distinct lack of knowledge and resources available to careers teams and young people, who are unable to make informed decisions about pursuing a career in the TV industry. That same report suggests several ways in which companies within the screen industries can bridge that gap and help create clear career paths for young people. You can read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/e9RJBbjf Gritty Talent is proud to be delivering ScreenSkills High-End TV Schools Roadshow this Autumn to help young people gain a clearer understanding of what a career in HETV could look like for them, and inspire them to become the talent of tomorrow 💫 #CareerOpportunities #CareerAdvice #TVIndustry #TVCareer #CreativeCareer

Firstly a big well done to everyone getting results yesterday whether A levels, T levels or other quals. Whatever the grades kids have been working hard, and in challenging circumstances, and deserve that well done. If you've got someone at home or you know someone who didn't get the grades they'd hoped for - or maybe did better than expected and now has other options open to them - it's well worth a listen back to the Inspira interview on Radio Cumbria this morning at about 8.15am. https://lnkd.in/eDCsKq44 Some really good advice and I know from family as well as professional experience how helpful Mark Bowman's team are. I'd also reinforce what was said in the interview about apprenticeships as an option - I know of a number of people who either through proactive choice or following an issue with grades chose an apprenticeship over uni - by the time their friends had finished uni they'd finished their apprenticeship, got great quals, were on a good wage, had been promoted, had no debt and had managed to leap frog where their friends! One last tip, obviously not everyone is this lucky, but I do know one student who missed his grades, didn't check on UCAS straightaway and only discovered after some hours that his uni of choice had changed his offer to an unconditional the day before - so do check! And do remind them that whether they did well or not, any set of grades is only a stepping stone and they can still change the path from here - for better or worse.

Often working in the creative industries is something our students want to do, but daren't admit - because they do not know any one who does. These great resources will help you break down barriers and discuss creative roles openly and honestly in your class room. It's time for your close up! #creativeindustries #secondaryschool #colleges #havering #unpackingthecredits
The credits are rolling…but do we really take the time to watch and acknowledge the different roles in the creative industries? #UnpackingTheCredits is a brilliant new resource to help young people discover how their skills can lead to exciting careers. 🎭 📺 🎵 🎨 Check out our education resources and films from amazing industry-leading organisations. https://lnkd.in/eg3BvmRq #unpackingthecredits

The basic principle of organising an event is to understand the clients goals and objectives, to understand the demographic of your audience & what success looks like for them, only then can you create something they will be happy with. You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression, so hire professionals. If you want a chuckle, take a look at the new apprentice on how to get it horribly wrong! https://lnkd.in/dx_hWjU2

[ inclusion ] [ diversity ] [ energy ] I just simply love the energy in this video from Spotify! Why? Because it emphasises how important human relationships and culture are. It also role models how important it is to trust people in order for them to grow and embrace responsibility. It tunes in so well with our Aha! Accelerating Education activities so well! Here is an article I wrote about how to use applied neuroscience habits to enhance relationships : https://lnkd.in/dWdNNpNY
