A TRIP tot the hairdressers isn't always cheap, and depending on what you're getting done you can be there for hours and hours too.

But according to one stylist it doesn't matter if you're only in the salon for five minutes or five hours, clients still all do the same things that give her the 'ick'.

The professional stylist, who is called Brittany, has gone viral after sharing her list of common icks, and it's bad news if you love your purple shampoo a little too much.

Taking to TikTok, the hair whizz said doing the trend could "get her in trouble" but proceeded to lay out the things she hates most about her job anyway.

Topping her list is when clients show up to their appointment late with a takeaway coffee - the very thing that made them late in the first place.

Now, this wouldn't be so bad, but as far as Brittany is concerned the least they could do is bring a coffee for her as well, but they almost never do.

When it comes to getting your hair blow-dried you should always make an effort to keep your head totally still.

Although the stylist needs to pull back on your tresses, letting your head be pulled with the hair is something Brittany can't stand, in fact, she said it makes her job "so much harder."

But don't try and be too helpful as a client, especially when it's time to wash your hair.

This is because another one of the pro's big icks is when clients lift their head up slightly at the sink, thinking they're helping the stylist reach all the hair.

It isn't actually very helpful at all though, at least as far as Brittany is concerned, because it means water ends up spilling everywhere.

And clients who used to be hairdressers themselves are some of the worst to deal with, she added.

"When they say 'oh I used to be a hairstylist so do blah blah blah blah', but they haven't been a hairstylist for 20 years," Brittany explained.

But that's still not as bad as the total timewasters who book appointments for a cut and colour, but then only end up wanting a quick trim.

The hair pro said this one is particularly annoying since she has to block out hours of her time to do one thing, but then doesn't end up needing it all.

Whatever you do though, don't complain about your old hairstylist to your new one - it's a major ick, she added.

Not only that, but don't tell your hairstylist your blonde locks aren't bright enough if you've been using purple shampoo almost everyday.

"Don't do it every time you wash your hair," Brittany warned.

And finally, if you know you want an appointment close to Christmas, book it in way earlier than you think you need to.

According to Brittany she has to deal with disappointed clients every year who leave it until last minute, and a lot of the time she's unable to squeeze them in at all.

After sharing her list of icks on TikTok people flooded the comments admitting to doing at least one of them before.

"The sink one! I never know when to lift my head up," one person confessed.

"I try to keep my head still when it's being blow-dried but it's hard when they're yanking it," a second commented.

And a third wrote: "I do the sink one but now I feel bad! I didn't know!"

Meanwhile, other hairdressers chimed in, agreeing with Brittany on some of the icks, and some even added their own

One said: "When they move their head around as you're doing foils... ICK!"

"It should be an unspoked rule that if you come late with coffee there better be one for me," another wrote.

"When they say they know how to do hair but dropped out of hair school 10 years ago," someone else added.

And another popular ick was when people wear their favourite top to their appointments, because "you never know" what might happen with hair dye.
