A MUM who bought the most run-down house on the street was able to transform it into the home of her dreams, even though she had no DIY experience.

Lyndsey Gynane and her partner, from Halewood in Liverpool paid £170,000 for their three-bed property in April 2018.

Even though neither of them had any DIY skills, the couple set about transforming the place once they’d picked up the keys.

Just two years later, thanks to their efforts, they had increased the value of the property by £110,000 and inspired others to transform their own homes as they had picked up 162,000 Instagram followers along the way.

Lyndsey, speaking in 2020, is quoted by the Mirror saying: "When we came to view it we knew the potential. We wanted to make it all open and renovate each bedroom and make it into a family home.

"We'd not renovated before, it was our first time doing it but with the vision we had we knew we could make it into more than a three-bed semi.

"People look at it on Instagram and think it's half a million pound house, but it's not, it's just a three bed semi in Liverpool."

Lyndsey launched an Instagram account and started documenting her renovation journey and soon had 130,000 fans and this is since risen to 162,000 followers.

She said it had “just gone crazy” as people were not only following to see what they had achieved but also to get inspiration.

While Lyndsey admitted they had brought in experts to do the major renovations she said she’d done most of it herself, especially the décor.

Her favourite room is the “mini spa” style bathroom, closely followed by her cosy living room.

Lyndsey said that she particularly loved the bathroom because it was now her “little sanctuary” thanks to the feeling she got from it while taking a bath.

While the entire property was totally transformed one of the biggest challenges was the outside.

This was changed from pebble-dash to bright white along with matching window frames.

The front door also matched the wood interior.

Once inside the semi-detached property there is a glass banister, a plush carpet and bright white tiles.

In the living room the patterned wallpaper and fireplace were ditched and a modern electric fire installed.

While upstairs the wall separating the bathroom and toilet was knocked down to make Lyndsey’s “sanctuary”.
