MIKEY North has signed a new Coronation Street contract despite playing a killer in the soap.
The 34-year-old actor has revealed that he will continue playing villainous Gary Windass on the ITV soap for the foreseeable future.

Asked about his character's prospects on the cobbles, Mikey said: "I've just signed a new contract not so long ago so I am there for the next while.
“I’m loving the stuff they're giving me and have had a great couple of years.
"I really can't complain with the storylines I've had so I'm just hoping it will continue whenever and wherever that may be."
Gary has become a Weatherfield villain in recent years after causing the death of Rana Habeeb and murdering loan shark Rick Neelan but Mikey insists that his alter ego has good intentions despite his crimes.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning, he said: "Everything he has done has been with good reasons at heart. He always starts off intending well but it doesn't always end well for him."
Mikey is also looking forward to continuing his feud with love rival Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) in future plotlines.
He said: "I love working with Sam and he's a good friend of mine but it's nice to be at loggerheads in the show and I love the stuff that they give us so long may that continue."
Mikey, who played Gary on Corrie since 2008, hopes that his character can reconcile with estranged wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) as he believes there is "unfinished business" between the couple.

Asked by hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby about a possible reunion, he said: "I hope so.
“I think there is unfinished business there and they have been through a lot together in their short marriage.
“He's not been the nicest guy to her so I hope she can find a way to forgive him."
