A collaboration between two of the most revered artists of the 20th century is going under the hammer for the first time in almost 15 years.

Andy Warhol, the pop artist, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, who emerged from the late Seventies Manhattan graffiti scene, began their remarkable creative alliance in 1982.

By the mid-Eighties, the father of pop art and the young neo-expressionist had collaborated on a series of paintings, producing about 150 canvases between 1983 and 1985.

Now, with both men considered titans of contemporary art, one of their best-known collaborations is going on sale in New York.
