Shein is understood to be among a number of retailers still vying for Asos-owned Topshop, the former jewel in the crown of Sir Philip Green’s now defunct Arcadia Group.

Asos is said to have received “non-stop interest” from a range of high-profile retailers, including the China-founded fashion giant. Authentic Brands Group (ABG), the owner of collapsed Ted Baker and Forever 21 – both of which continue to trade – is also thought to have shown fresh interest.

The online retailer bought Topshop, as well as its sister brands Topman and Miss Selfridge, from Green’s defunct retail empire for £330 million in 2021. It fended off competition from the likes of Next, the high street retail chain, and a reported interest from Shein and Mike Ashley’s
