The family of the founder of Spanish fascism is divided over where he should be buried for the fifth time since his execution during the civil war.

The remains of José Antonio Primo de Rivera, founder of the Falangist party, will shortly be exhumed, on this fourth occasion from the Basilica of the Valley of the Fallen — the monument built by a labour force of republican prisoners on the orders of the dictator General Franco.

The family took the decision reluctantly after the Democratic Memory Law was passed last October, converting the controversial monument to a civil site that would no longer exalt the victors of the civil war.
