An MSP says that the bosses of Glasgow School of Art should be stripped of the ownership of the Mackintosh building because they are “unfit custodians”.

Adam Tomkins, a Scottish Conservative, was speaking in a debate at Holyrood on a report into two fires there.

In June last year it was extensively damaged while it was being restored at a cost of £35 million after a fire in 2014.

The culture committee has already criticised Glasgow School of Art for not giving enough priority to safeguarding the Mackintosh building against fire.
