With a sinking heart, I read the headline: “TV sex coach is sued for ‘rape’ in therapy session.” In a civil claim, the child sexual abuse survivor Ella Janneh, 37, has alleged that Mike Lousada — a “sex coach and sex educator” — “sexually assaulted and raped” her, allegedly telling her that his penis was “like a laser beam” that could “burn up trauma”.

In his defence, Lousada says he “worked as a sexual healer rather than a traditional psychotherapist”, and Janneh would have been “well aware” that “the session would involve sexual touching”. He is defending the claim and denies any wrongdoing.

A decade ago, Lousada was “renowned” — though always controversial. He appeared on ITV’s breakfast show This Morning. He
