King plans to ‘dial up’ engagements towards summer, says Palace

Monarch was represented by the Queen at the Maundy service at Worcester Cathedral

The King plans to “dial up” his official engagements towards the summer and has already increased the number of people he can meet inside, a Palace source said.

After Easter the King and Queen will take a break to enjoy “a quiet period”, a Palace source said, before returning to “gradually dial up” the King’s diary towards the summer.

As the weather improves, the source added that the King planned to start taking part in larger gatherings held outside. Palace aides have not ruled out the prospect of the King being well enough to mark this year’s 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
