The engineering company that first brought electricity to Windsor Castle and helped to light up the Shard in central London is to leave the stock market after more than 70 years.

TClarke, which was founded in 1889 and whose shares have been trading on the London Stock Exchange since shortly after the Second World War, is to be acquired by Deep Valechi, an existing shareholder, and his Regent Gas Group.

A statement announcing the deal said despite that its “strong brand, built upon through a reputation for high-quality engineering, reliability and on-time delivery, TClarke directors realise that the shares have consistently traded at a discounted valuation multiple to its core peers in the public markets”.
