The day-to-day running of Mike Ashley’s retail empire may now be carried out by his son-in-law Mike Murray, a former nightclub promoter, but the hard-drinking retailer continues to defy the rules of retail by buying and saving high-street names and unloved fashion brands.
Ashley, 58, has increased his control of Frasers Group, the stock market-listed operation that includes Sports Direct, House of Fraser, Game, Jack Wills, Evans Cycles, Slazenger, Lillywhites and a host of other high-street names and leisure brands. He now owns 70 per cent
