Pink Floyd’s lead vocalist, Roger Waters, is preparing a special reinterpreted “redux” version of The Dark Side of the Moon, 50 years since its release.

Waters, who turns 80 in September, has collaborated on the stripped-back album with his touring partner Gus Seyffert, who has worked with artists including Beck and Michael Kiwanuka.

He said that he was inspired to revisit The Dark Side of the Moon, which he made with bandmates David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright and which spent more than 700 weeks in the Billboard charts after its release in 1973, as a result of the failure of its message to be heard.
